after spending most of 2008 in China this year, I still did not edit all the photo material. (Shame on me!)  Anyway, some of the interesting pictures you can see here.

From China I went to North Korea, where my documentary film “The Wine of the Souls” about the  Santo Daime church was shown at the Pyongyang International Film Festival PIFF. The film is now going to festivals in Europe, probably France and Holland.
Pyongyang was an amazing experience, a completely mysterious, undiscovered country.  had the chance to take photo  also. It did not look like “the empire of evil” to me, but, of course, my guide only showed me the bride side. Please, take a look.

After coming back fromAsia, I had an assignment for a World Wildlife Found – book in the new  national park of Juruena in the Amazon.  The book will be published in 2009.

Just published is a book of SPIEGEL  correspondent Jens Gluesing about Adolf Hitler’s secret plans  to conquer the south American rainforest “Das Guyana-Projekt.” Jens and me followed during many weeks the traces of an Nazi expedition in the 1930s, which ended tragically on the border between Brazil and French Guyana. The middle part consists of  my pictures.

Coming up now at the end of September is  the 2. international photo festival in the charming city of Pirenopolis, www.photopirenopolis2008.blogspot.com. Amongst the 8 exhibitions is my show “Rio by Night”, who had an award at the TOPS festival in Shenyang, China, in June this year.
For the first time in Brasil you have the chance to  see the pictures of the great Chinese photographer Wang Fuchun,  We became friends   in Beijing. He will show pictures from his famous work “Chinese on the train” and his new work “Chinese on the subway”. I hope, that this visit will be the start of my interchange project  “Light and Image” como na versao atual for brasilian and chinese photographers and filmmakers.
